Email and Text Appointment Reminders Begin on July 1, 2013!
 
People have become far more mobile and difficult to reach by phone in the past 5 years.  We need to make sure we can contact you when we need to provide you with information or instructions about your care.
 
As part of Appletree’s ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive service and care to our patients, effective July 1, 2013, we will be switching away from telephone calls to using Text Messaging, Emails and your Personal Patient Portal for the following:
 
1/ Appointment Reminder Messages
2/ Call Back Requests by Physicians (Notifying patients of their physician's requests to come back to clinic to review test results or for necessary follow up from previous appointments.)
3/ Future Appointment Notifications and Instructions   (Notifying patients that an expected appointment or referral to a specialist has been booked for them, with the details of the appointment and contact information for the specialist.)
 
This information will also automatically be sent to your Personal Patient Portal in your Messages Section.
 
To ensure we have your correct contact informaton, on today's visit with us, please ensure we have your preferred email address and mobile number.  Make sure that you have clicked ‘Yes’ to the ‘Allow Text Message Appointment Reminders’ and ‘Allow Email Appointment Reminders’ boxes upon check-in.  If you do not want us to use these methods to reach us, make sure you have checked 'No' to the 'Allow Text Message' or 'No' to 'Allow Email Appointment Reminders' when you register at the kiosk. These patients will continue to receive phone calls.
 
Make sure that you ask for your own Personal Patient Portal on today's visit.  We are providing a free Appletree Patient Portal to every Appletree patient 16 years of age and older upon request. This portal is designed to give our patients better control over the administration of their health care.
 
We are employing technology to enable you better access to medical care when you need it!

Dr. Milstone graduated with a Ph.D. in Psychology at the University of Ottawa in 1993, and further trained at the Adler Graduate Professional School, the Traumatology Institute (Toronto), and York University’s Emotion Focussed Therapy Clinic. She has over 20 years experience in the field of mental health and psychology.

Appletree working with the Ontario Telemedicine Network (OTN) to increase access to care!

We are honoured to be working with OTN on a telemedicine pilot project to improve access to care for our patients.  For more information about the project, now offered at select clinics, click here.

Additional Appletree physicians are available through telemedicine, for a large number of common conditions, in order to reduce wait times and increase access to care.  These conditions include:
• Allergy symptoms of nose and eyes
• Blood Glucose Check
• Blood Pressure Check
• Bug Bites, Poison Ivy, Eczema, Psoriasis or Mild Sunburn
• Cold Sores or Cankers on face, mouth or lips (non-genital)
• Cold, Upper Respiratory Infection, Sore Throat or Flu-Like Symptoms
• Ear Infection, Earache, or Swimmers Ear
• Eye Infection, Pinkeye or Styes
• Female Urinary Tract Infection
• Head Lice
• Infected Toenail or Fingernail
• Medication Renewal (no controlled or addictive medications)
• Minor Burns

Appletree’s Paediatric Department Expands!

If your child is sick, you can now see a paediatrician 7 days per week!  Dr. Chacon has moved her practice from Preston Street to Sundays and Mondays at 3001 Carling.  Dr. Chacon joins Dr. Jacoby, who is available Tuesday through Saturday, and Dr. Cornet, who is available on Mondays.  Paediatric care is available across the city, at 3001 Carling, 2948 Baseline Road, 1582 Bank Street and 2016 Ogilvie Road.  Ask your doctor for a referral, or, just come in!  Check the Wait Timer before you go, to see which paediatrician is on duty and their wait time.
